Party Time

Enjoyable Moment
At a recent birthday bash held by one of the most illustrious industrialists of the country, the much-celebrated six year old birthday boy dressed himself up in an outfit that was adorned with more jewels than any woman's necklaces at the event. There were gifts for each and every guest and the tables and walls all had a common Mickey Mouse theme. And that's not all. The guest list was hand-picked by one of the leading event management companies of Dhaka, flowers were imported from the Netherlands, the food was prepared by a five-star chef, models were brought in to dress up as Mickey & Minnie Mouse and professional DJ was hired to play the music. All these however came at a hefty price tag of Tk. 4 lac. Not bad for a birthday party which once upon a time meant a simple cake-cutting celebration with a couple of close friends and relatives.
Welcome to metropolitan Bangladesh, where it's the time to party' every night. Welcome to the country that is fast pacing from a dreary, boring nightlife to one that is fun, chic and glitzy. Society has shifted from poking fun of those who enjoy nightlife to poking fun in those stylish parties that they now gladly attend. Social barriers are far less now that security and decency is in order. The days of sleaze-balls are also over with an emergence of a respectable crowd who knows how to have some fun while maintaining a certain level of decency.
